Geolog6.6-Course Objective
This introductory course provides the geoscientist and technician with a working knowledge of Geolog. The course provides an overview of project and data structure; manual and graphic editing, data transfer, utility modules, cross-sections, working in multi-well projects and single well layouts. The course is centered around hands-on exercises, which illustrate commonly used features and functionalities
Courses focusing on Deterministic Petrophysics, Wellbore Geophysics, Facimage, and other subjects are available. Please visit the Customer Hub to view scheduled courses.
Course Outline:
Day One: Preliminaries: Create & manage projects. Geolog6.6 behavior. Help? Data Loading: Std. & Custom Formats Data QC & Editing: Merge, depth, & more Well Log Anaylsis
Course Outline:
Day Two Project Analysis, The Big Picture Analyze Project Dataset Develop Project Basesmap Determine Candidate Wells for Cross Section Build, Correlate, & Interpret a Cross Section Generate Product & Present Findings . . .
Launching Geolog 1. PPM (Paradigm Product Manager) 2. Command Prompt: geolog6.6/bin/geolog6 Open Existing Project Project Structure Deregister an Existing Project Create a New Project Geolog Behavior Help Feedback
Project selection GUI lists projects available to the user Tabs at top can delimit project parameters Possible to search for existing projects Naming convention: project_name@host
/Your_Project/ /bin/ executables specific to the project /data/ houses raw data files; LAS, ASCII, DLIS, TIF /layouts/ log layouts, cross plots, histograms /loglan/ log language, user created code to process logs /plots/ graphic files for plotting or other applications /reports/ pay summaries, info on data loads, .txt & .pdf /specs/ data loading specs, module parameters /wells/ well data stored as *.well & well lists
Deregister a Project.
Useful for: Whenever analysis is completed or abandonment occurs Limiting load on server & network Make the project & data less visible to others
Geolog Basics pg. 65
Deregister a Project
DOES NOT delete the data Project directories & data remain in original location Data is not visible by geolog until the project is recreated (reregistered)
All names are suitable Avoid use of @ Use an _ in place of spaces Public & private projects
Geolog6.6 Behavior
Supported OSs: Solaris, Irix, Linux, Win2K/XP Geolog6.6 now runs windows native! Developed on Unix & retains Unix behavior MB1: select item MB2: drag item & duplicate MB3: options MDI-Cursor position/attribute is reflected in all open views/windows Browser Bar project influences all sub-apps Feedback
Geolog6.6 Help
Indexed online help Search for keywords & phrases in documentation Adobe6.0 recommended
Geolog6.6 Feedback
Running dialog of all executions & errors User Configurable Great for troubleshooting
Load & Unload Data to & from Geolog Projects Load Standard Formats: LAS, LIS, TIF, BIT Load Custom Formats: ASCII, Geolog ASCII Transfer Data From Project to Project Establish Mnemonic Conventions File Conversions: LAS to TIF & others Load & Unload Data to & from nonGeolog Projects (OW & Geoshare)
