Ten women came to listen and learn, share their talents and experiences, focusing on Liberation Theology, History, and Fair trade. One highlight of their time in Nicaragua was living with families from the Saint Rita community in Teustepe.
In conversation with other women of faith from Matagalpa and the Christian Base community of San Pablo Apostel, Managua. Asheville women meet rural mothers to be at the Casa Materna in Matagalpa during their morning walk and excercises.

Los Altos United Methodist Church February 19 - 27 8 delegates including children, California
pastors and laypeople came to meet Nicaragua for the first time.
They explored relationships and possible avenues for service in the future by sharing with the community of San Pablo del Apostel, Casa Materna Matagalpa, Christian Medical Action, Potters for Peace, and the AKF School.

Rotary District 5960 sent a delegation of 6 Rotarians and Roteracts to familiarize themselves with the Nicaraguan culture, build relationships, and learn different perspectives about sustainable agriculture.
They spent time with artesans in San Juan de Oriente adn the organized women potters of El Ojoche, Somotillo.
Along with leaning about the process of working with clay, they learned the history, the dreams and the organizational process of the womens cooperative. In that way they became aware of the many small steps necessary for sustainable developement that begins from the grass roots.

Julie arrived saying: i am willing to do anything! Really, whatever! She learned spanish and together with her beautiful smile, Julie brought joy and strength to many people. Amongst other tasks, Julie accompanied us at the farm school during critical moments.

Together with professor and historian Aynn Setright, they discovered the shared history between Nicaragua the United States.
High School students from Dulce Nombre de Jesus, became a part of the delegation, making the experience that much more amazing and awesome
The Nicaraguan and U.S students traveled to Esteli, lived with families in Mira Flor, and worked at the AKF Farm School, where they painted a mural together representing their favorite places and learnings.
