Class-10th Name-akshay aggarwal Roll no.-01 Global Warming

Science

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century and its projected continuation .

What is Global Warming???

What are the causes of Global Warming???

An increase in global temperature will cause sea levels to rise and will change the amount and pattern of precipitation, probably including expansion of subtropical deserts. The continuing retreat of glaciers, permafrost and sea

ice is expected, with warming being strongest in the Arctic. Other likely effects include increases in the intensity of extreme weather events, species extinctions, and changes in agricultural yields. Global warming could affect seasons, sea level and disrupt ecosystems.

What are the effects of Global Warming???

The effects of global warming and climate change are of concern both for the environment and human life. Evidence of observed climate change includes the instrumental temperature record, rising sea levels, and

decreased snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere. According to the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report, "[most] of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in [human greenhouse gas]

concentrations". It is predicted that future climate changes will include further global warming (i.e., an upwardtrend in global mean temperature), sea level rise, and a probable increase in the frequency of some extreme weather events. Ecosystems are seen as being particularly vulnerable to climate change. Human systems are seen as

being variable in their capacity to adapt to future climate change. To reduce the risk of large changes in future climate, many countries have implemented policies designed to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases.

How we can prevent it???

Drive less. Take bikes, walk or carpool whenever possible. Consider investing in a hybrid or electric vehicle to help prevent against further global warming.

Step1

Step2

Replace all the lightbulbs in and around your home with energyefficient fluorescents that use fewer watts for the same amount of light.
Clean or replace your filters monthly. Choose energy-efficient appliances when it's time to buy new ones.

Step4

Step5

Decrease your air travel. Wash clothes in cold water and line-dry whenever possible. Use a low-flow showerhead, which will lessen the hot water used but not drop your water pressure in the shower.

Step6
Step7

Step8

Cut down on your garbagebuy fewer packaged materials to prevent further global warming.

Step9

Unplug electronics when they are not in use, because they still take up energy. At the very least, turn items off when theyre not being used.

Step10

Run the dishwasher and clothes washer only when you have a full load, and if available, use the energy-saving setting. Insulate your home better, and dont forget to repair or replace worn caulking or weatherstripping. Insulate your water heater .

Step11

Step12

Buy recycled paper products and recycle as much of your waste as possible.

Step13

Bring your own reusable canvas grocery bags when grocery shopping.
Plant a tree.

Step14

Step15

Have an energy audit done on your home so you can find the trouble areas and fix them.

Step16

Use nontoxic cleaning products.

Shop locally for food. A farmers market is an excellent place to visit. And choose fresh food over frozen foods. Fresh takes less

Step17 Step18

energy to produce.

Keep your car tuned up, and check tire pressure often to save gas.
Eat less meat and more organic foods in your diet to do your part in preventing global warming
