WHAT IS COOPERATIVE?
As per the international co operative alliance defination an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise. In other way cooperative may also defined as a business owned and controlled equally by the people who use its services or by the people who work there. Cooperative is based on self help, self responsibility, equity, equality, democracy, honesty, openness , social responsibility etc.

HISTORY & ORIGINS

In 1844 a group of 28 artisans working in the cotton mills in the town of Rockdale, in the north of England established the first modern co-operative business, the Rockdale Equitable Pioneers Society. After the industrial revolution done in Europe there were large number of cooperative organizations established for several purposed. Robert Owen (1771 - 1858) was a social reformer and a pioneer of the cooperative movement. First cooperative organization was started in 1844 and then after within ten years there were 1000 cooperative societies were founded in united kingdom.
