A smartphone is a mobile phone that offers more advanced computing ability and connectivity. Smartphones are getting smarter. Lots of Applications. Becoming cheaper.

Terminal Mode
New technology developed by Nokia. Transforms mobile application platform to automotive application platform. Terminal mode gives smartphone users access to their favorite applications and services inside the car.

User safety and experience driver or passenger safety is always important. Plug and play interoperability Standardization same experience in all vehicle. Requires less maintenance. Application support

Connectivity
Universal Serial Bus (USB) It will support USB 2.0 for wired connectivity Wireless LAN (WLAN) It will support 802.11b/g. This will be helpful for short journey. Bluetooth It will optionally use Bluetooth for wireless connectivity.

Input
o Touch (Touch Screens/Track Pads), o Non-touch (Buttons/Multi-functional Knobs) o Audio (voice).

o Video Display and Audio.

Conclusion
Here was the overview of the terminal mode technology. Development of some more feature is going on like Addition of video streaming mechanisms to the Remote UI components of Terminal Mode. Addition of discovery and delivery of vehicle based services to the Terminal Mode standard including access to on-board diagnostic data and other vehicle sensor data through the IVI system.
