A person suffering from paralysis or any other injury has to always rely on a helper. He cannot move around to perform routine tasks like switching on/off a fan , tube light etc. Our project aims at providing a solution to the same. 4/24/12

Appliances can be turned on and off and light dimmer functions can also be achieved by simply bending his fingers. Our project also includes a mechanism to control wheelchair motion.

H BRIDGE

Itis anelectronic circuitthat enables a voltage to be applied across a load in either direction.

These circuits are often used inroboticsand other applications to allow DC motors to run forward and backward.

Relays

A relay is a switch which is operated by electricity It is usually electromagnetic device When a small trigger voltage is applied to a relay ,power supply to the device is switched on When the trigger voltage is removed, the power supply for the device is also cut off Some relays can be triggered directly by a microcontroller output

4/24/12

Advantages of Relays:

It can be used to turn on and off appliances with trigger pulses from the microcontroller

Can be used to switch for higher current than a microcontroller can produce

Provides electrical insulation to the sensitive components

4/24/12

Advantages of Patient Helper:

No need for a person to remain with the patient at all times

Easy to use

4/24/12

Additional functions can be added easily. Zigbee covers more distance compared to transmission using IR rays (which is used in some remote controls) The existing wheel chair control systems are difficult to use and master.

4/24/12

Future Work

Communication module needs to be configured, installed and programmed The Output module of control of appliances using relays needs to be setup
