TRIZ
The theory of inventive problem solving Developed by Genrich Altshuller beginning in 1946. Altshuller and his team put 1500 manhours into analysing over 2 million patents.

TRIZ
Principal Axiom:
o The evolution of all technical systems is governed by objective laws. Also: o There are only about 1500 basic types of problem, and they can be solved through the combination of 40 inventive principles.

Corollary: o Somebody someplace has already solved this problem (or one very similar to it). o If somebody has done it, it is probably somewhere on the internet.
