INTRODUCTION

A tablet computer, or a tablet, is a mobile computer,

larger than a mobile phone or personal digital assistant, integrated into a flat touch screen and primarily operated by touching the screen rather than using a physical keyboard. It often uses an onscreen virtual keyboard, a passive stylus pen, or a digital pen.
The more general term is Pen computer or Pen computing.

Traditional tablet PCs A tablet personal computer (tablet PC) is a portable

personal computer equipped with a touchscreen as a primary input device, and running a modified desktop OSdesigned to be operated and owned by an individual.

Since mid-2010, new tablet computers have been

introduced with mobile operating systems that forgo the Wintel paradigm,have a different interface instead of the traditional desktop OS, and represent a new type of computing device.

OPERATING SYSTEMS
Android from GOOGLE (free and open source)
Android was developed by a small startup company that

was purchased by Google Inc Android 3.0 was a tablet-oriented release and does not officially run on mobile phones. The current Android version is 4.0. Android releases are nicknamed after sweets or dessert items like Cupcake (1.5), Frozen Yogurt (2.2), Honeycomb (3.0), and Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0).

iOS from Apple Inc. (closed source, proprietary, on top

of open source Darwin core OS) The Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and secondgeneration Apple TV all use an operating system called iOS, which is derived from Mac OS X. Native third party applications were not officially supported until the release of iOS 2.0 on July 11th 2008. Before this, "jailbreaking" allowed third party applications to be installed, and this method is still available.

proprietary) This is a mobile operating system being developed by Samsung Electronics. With the phone, Samsung also released an app store, called Samsung Apps, to the public. It has close to 3000 mobile applications.

Windows Phone from Microsoft (closed source,

proprietary) On February 15th, 2010, Microsoft unveiled its nextgeneration mobile OS, Windows Phone. The new mobile OS includes a completely new over-hauled UI inspired by Microsoft's "Metro Design Language".

Aliyun OS from Alibaba/AliCloud (cloud based)
AliCloud's operating system revolves around the idea of

bringing cloud functionality to the mobile platform. According to the company, Aliyun will feature cloudbased e-mail, Web search, weather updates, and GPS navigation tools.
Windows 8 from Microsoft (closed source, properitary)

Microsoft announced that Windows 8 will support tablet devices as well as PCs

MULTI-TOUCH SENSE: In computing, multi-touch refers to a touch sensing surface's

(track pad or touchscreen) ability to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the surface. This pluralpoint awareness is often used to implement advanced functionality such as pinch to zoom or activating predefined programs.

VIRTUAL KEY BOARD: A virtual keyboard is a software component that allows a user

to enter characters. A virtual keyboard can usually be operated with multiple input devices, which may include a touchscreen, an actual keyboard and a computer mouse.

SLATES
Slates, are tablet PCs without a dedicated keyboard. Keyboards can usually be attached via a wireless or USB

connection. These tablet PCs typically incorporate small (8.4-14.1 inches/2136 cm) LCD screens. Slate models are often designed with a focus on pure mobility, that is, the less to care, the better.

more user friendly environment operated on various operating systems ,with touch screen interface.
