Infosys has always shared relevant information with stakeholders. We have gone a step further by disclosing information that is not required by law. In fiscal 1994, Infosys provided a comparison of actual performance vis--vis projections made in the prospectus. After setting the precedent, such disclosure became mandatory in India

THE HICCUPS

Wipro
World bank debarred Wipro Technologies for four years in the year 2009 for providing improper benefits to the Banks staff

Infosys
The firm is facing a federal grand jury probe after an US employee of the company filed a lawsuit alleging misuse. Infosys has been accused of using the cheaper B-1 visa programme to send employees for long term work H-1B is the appropriate visa for longterm work and is more difficult to get. The firm has now tightened documentation of the visa process following an audit by an US-based legal firm. Only employees of Grade V and above are now allowed to travel on the B-1 visa. Grade V is a managerial position. The firm has also mandated that no employee traveling on this visa category can stay beyond 45 days in the US. Employees also need to sign a policy document on the B-1 visa before travelling. The sexual harassment suit was the most high profile in India's corporate history. Mr. Murthy quit in July last year after Ms. Maximovitch sued him and the company, contending sexual harassment and wrongful termination. Mr. Murthy, who was based in Fremont, Calif., was also an Infosys board member and the company's highest-paid employee. In her suit, filed in Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland, Calif., Ms. Maximovitch, who had been Mr. Murthy's executive assistant, contended that she was subjected to verbal and visual sexual harassment and unwanted sexual advances. She also contended that the company failed to take reasonable steps to keep the harassment from occurring and recurring.

EXCERPTS

Then he found the bulbs in my rooms were made by Wipro. He cheekily asked me whether the tiles were also from Wipro. I said Wipro does not make them but the day they do, I will use them," he went on. "The point is that they make products of quality," he added."
