Literary types such as fictional; drama and short story have some elements. These include:

PLOT
Plot is the serial arrangement of incidents, ideas or events. In literature, the plot encompasses all the incidents and provides aesthetic pleasure. Plots of drama are divided into Acts and Scences. The essential parts of drama are: Exposition,to edit Master subtitle style Click Foreshadowing, Inciting Force, Conflict, Rising Action, Crisis, Climax, Falling Action, Resolution.

a.)Exposition The introductory material which gives the setting, creates the tones, presents the characters, and presents other facts necessary to understanding the story. b.)Foreshadowing The use of hints or clues to suggest what will happen later in the story. c.) Inciting Force The event or character that triggers the conflict. Click to edit Master subtitle style d.) Conflict - The essence of fiction. It creates plot. The conflicts we encounter can usually be identified as one of our kinds. e.) Rising Action A series of events that builds from the conflict. It begins with the inciting force and ends with the climax.

f.) Crisis The conflict reaches a turning point. At this point the opposing forces in the story meet and the conflict becomes most intense. The crisis occurs before or at the same as the climax. g.) Climax The climax is the result of the crisis. It is the high point of the story for the reader. Frequently, it is the moment of the highest interest and greatest. h.) Falling Action - The events after the climax which close the story.

Character

Character plays a pivotal role in a drama, novel, short story and all kinds of narratives. In Drama, character reflects the personality of the protagonist and other related characters. The method of conveying information about characters in art is called characterization. Characters can be fictional or based on real, historical entities.

Major Characters
Almost always round or three-dimensional characters. They have good and bad qualities. A round character changes as a result of what happens to him or her.

Almost always flat or two-dimensional characters. They have only one or two striking qualities.
