from theory to practice •Governments understand the educational situation in a strange way: -Not serious educational projects. -They say what to do, but not how to do it. •Some teachers don’t explore: -Remain silent. -Accept poor options. •Educational unrealistic policies: -They cannot be put into practice -Public schools without resources -Teachers without training courses •Improve education is not an important issue. -Governments don’t appoints teachers for some subjects. -The Colombian social situation -Parent’s Association assumes some educationalcosts, (Cleanliness, P.I, English…) -It’s necessary to reduce the time of the classes. It represents a lot of inconveniences for teachers. -It’s complicated to make projects to develop the students’ language skills. •English is considers like a difficult subject, but WE CAN CHANGE THIS SITUATION. •Some students never had taken English courses. •Most of English teachers are considered dreadful by their students. •I had to earn their love, they like English better. •Motivate them to get vocabulary (routines, games, outdoor activities…). •Now, I can give them some directions and the most of students understand them. •Some students can complete dialogues, play roles, sing songs very well and read short texts. •Some try to speak English in the class. “May I go to the bathroom, please?” •IT’S NECESSARY TO WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST ENGLISH AS A HEADACHE FOR THE STUDENTS AT •Age is indirectly proportional to the ability to learn another language (less years, more ability). •It’s better when the new language is shown trough dynamics (songs, games, pictures, stories –big books-…) •Preschoolers are the ones who most enjoy the English classes. They have •In kindergarten, English subject is mixed up with other subjects to develop the communicative dimension. •I work and discuss with the kindergarten teacher about the topics that students should carry out. •Topics are worked at the same time in English and in Spanish. •We develop routines (asking the date, the weather, commands, •My students sing “Hello Teacher Song” with some movements that I taught them. •They know recognized some colors, circle the correct objects, draw and decorate pictures. •They repeat and identify the vocabulary of: animals, professions, means of transport… •They follow some commands like: stand up, silence, be quiet (like a statue), raise the hand, clap, jump. •It’s understandable why teachers couldn’t get carry out their work and get educational goals: -Out-of-reality educational policies. -Few resources. -Parent’s pressure (parent’s attitude). •OUR WORK ISN’T THE MOST CHARMING OF THE JOBS…

change their minds and our job can become very rewarding and exciting. WHAT’S THE CLUE? •Earn your student’s love for English. •Try to explore fresh options with few resources. •Mixing theories and methodological approaches. •Creating new theories. •Talking and working with others teachers. •Sharing information and positive experiences. Our job isn’t easy… …IT’S A BIG CHALLENGE!
