INTRODUCTION

The various faiths of Christianity include: Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant.

Most Christians: Omnivores and Demi-vegetarians(refuse animal products). Some Christians: Vegetarian. Some faith orders did not serve any meat at all, while many observed one or more

meatless days each week. In the Middle Ages, people required abstain from eating meat on Fridays (remembrance of Jesus died). Fish (dried and cured): Supply protein on meatless days. Since 1966, Catholics have not been required to observe meatless Fridays. . Christians eat bread and drink wine to remember Jesus. They believe Jesus died on the cross to save people from hell This meal is called The Last Supper Eggs also have symbolic value: represent renewed life

Diet perspective
Most Christians are omnivores (have no moral or religious objection to eating meat of any kind )

Diet lifestyle of Christianity:

Some Christians are Demi-vegetarians (refuse animal products that have been intensively reared ,eat only freerange meat and fish)

Some Christians are vegetarian (exclude fish, flesh and fowl, but not necessarily all dairy produce and eggs).

Some Christians are vegan (exclude fish, flesh and fowl and all dairy product).

Two main biblical insights influence Christian dietary practices:

Genesis 9.1-4: Allows meat eating under certain conditions. They believe that God had granted humans permission to eat flesh as part of the Noah covenant. Some Catholic and Orthodox Christians fast on Fridays or during Lent or other penitential seasons of the Churchs year for spiritual rather than ethical reasons. Genesis 1.29: Depicts vegetarianism as Gods original will. Some Christians are demi-vegetarian, vegetarian or vegan for ethical or religious reasons.

Will they eat the food or drink that does not conform to beliefs? Christian omnivores will eat anywhere. Vegetarian Christians object to food that has been in contact with meat products. Ex: Vegetables fried in meat or fish oil.

Vegetarianism concept
Christians actually forbids the eating of flesh entirely, because its impossible to get blood totally out of meat. Meat eating is unjustifiable because they know that they can live healthy lives without recourse to flesh foods. Opposed animal cruelty. All animals are creatures beloved by God and that God created them with a capacity for pain and suffering( should adopt a vegetarian diet).

Christian vegetarians believe:

Example Laying hen: animal 3.0 SELECTED FOOD: THE CHRISTIAN Spend their entire lives crammed into wire-mesh cages and stacked in cruelty:
with 10000 of other birds. One egg = 34 hours of suffering for a hen. Chickens, pigs (prohibited in Islam), cows: Genetically bred and fed drugs to make them grow faster Separated from their families at birth, and mutilated without any painkillers. They are killed by being hung upside down and bled to death from a slit throat.

PERSPECTIVE

Genetic modified food(GMO) Christian theologians reject the use of GMOs entirely because: The unknown risks with GMOs with respect to health and the environment, The corporate ownership and control of the GM seeds that will enslave poor farmers to the GM companies. Surprisely, scientists have their blessing to genetically modified crop as a possible to world hunger and poverty with the Precaution principle:

When one is embarking on something new, one should think very carefully about whether it is safe or not, and should not go ahead until reasonably convinced it is. The current approval of GMOs, however cause many implication such as: The use of pesticides has increased. Soil fertility has been reduced. Soil erosion has increased. Land ownership has become more unequal.

Clean and unclean meats

'Clean' animals were suitable for both sacrifice, and for food. The 'unclean' were prohibited for both. From the Flood until Moses, they eating and sacrificing only the clean animals

ABRIDGED LIST OF SCRIPTURALLY "CLEAN" FOODS: [see Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14] MEAT: FISH: FOWL: They chew the cud & They must have both fins and Chicken have a divided hoof scales Turkey Beef Cod Quail Antelope Haddock Pheasant Elk Mackerel Goose Buffalo Salmon Grouse Lamb Bream Duck Deer Tuna Dove (and related) Goat Insects: Those listed in Scripture are not easily identified with our familiar insects.
