the different departments.
 HSS Deptt. offers different
languages like French and
German.
VGSOM also offers managerial
courses.

Keep checking the notice boards, or the IIT KGP website
ticker.
Foreign
Training

 Visit the websites of different foreign


universities, and go through the
webpages of the professors of your
department.

 E-mail them about your interest in


their field of research alongwith your
past achievements and qualifications.

 Needs some hard work… and a little


luck.
Industrial Training
 Various companies look for
summer interns.

 Various companies incubated at


IIT KGP (STEP) might be interested
to take you as interns for your soft
skills.
• You must choose the company
you intern with very wisely
depending upon your interest.
Some prominent examples are:

• FMCG Sector : ITC, P&G, HUL


• Field Engineer : Schlumberger,
Rio Tinto
• Software : IBM, Infosys, Wipro,
etc
• Finance : Banks like Deutsche
Bank, Lehman Brothers
Work with NGOs
 Various NGOs across India offer Summer
Internships

 Internships may include monetary stipend and


even a chance to go abroad

 This adds a valuable point to your CV

• Find an NGO dealing in an area of your interest
• Check out your work profile, time commitments and
stipend (if any)
• Look for advertisements in newspapers or call local
NGOs to check vacancies
• It will involve hard work. Take the plunge only if you
are ready.
• Don't over-commit. You may want time for leisure.
• If you want a certificate acknowledging your work,
enquire about this before you join

MATLAB, Visual Basic, C#, .NET,
HTML are some programming languages
that you can learn
