How can you as a parent be part of our program?

Pride Night. We will have our pride night on the night before the game. You are invited to attend. We will need the help of parents and boosters in preparing, and serving the meals. At the meals, we will announce our scout team player of the week. This player will be the 1st in line to eat. We will also have 2-3 other players talk about what our team means to them, and whatever they have on their mind. We will make this an exciting night for the boys and our program.

Tailgate. Especially on away game nights, to have a sandwich, and drinks for players after the game.
Have an open film night during the week to show film to parents, so all can see and enjoy. This will be a fun night, not a night to teach or talk about players.

What can you do to help the program, and your son to achieve success?

Support coaching staff even if you dont agree with them. The importance of support is so the kids stay positive, and be team players. A negative parent makes a negative player, and hurts player attitude more than helps. A negative attitude can also cause conflict and teaching ability between player-coach. You may not agree with everything we do, but it is important that your child not hear you talk negative. Also, many times a child will tell their parents something, because they think that is what their parent wants to hear.

Dont coach your son. That is the job of the coaching staff. When a parent teaches their child one thing and the coaching staff another, the player gets confused. The player has to be able to play within the team scheme.
Remember, your child is still a kid. Let them be kids 1st, and enjoy the sport as a high school activity. Sports are part of their education. Many lessons are learned, and used the rest of their lives.

Dont talk about other players in a negative way. This hurts TEAM moral more than you think. It teaches a kid to judge, not support their teammates. Remember: The team is bigger than the individual player.
Success is based on improvement, and work put forth. Not on win/loss record, or individual stats. Be courteous to the officials, and opposing players.

What can you as a parent expect from us as coaches?

To treat all athletes with respect, as long as they show us they deserve it.
To discipline them as a team member: We expect them to adhere to team rules, school rules, Colorado high school athletic association rules, and the Law. To give every athlete a fair chance to play. Must understand that playing time is earned in practice. Lack of playing time does not mean we do not like your child. We do!

Communication

We will talk to you at an appropriate time. We are approachable. We are human. We do ask you to use the 24 hour, cooling down rule, after a game.
We will not talk before or after a game. These are times that we have too much on our mind. Please make an appointment for: before, or after practice

Proper Things to Talk About

Your child. What can he do to get more playing time? Not: can he play more, or why is he not playing. Many times there is a reason for lack of playing time that your child will not tell you. {Exlate for practice, because girl friend was more important} Concerns about his Behavior- On the team, in class, at home? His grades are not up to par. We will not talk about other players or other players parents. We will not talk about our football scheme. Plays: If we cannot come up with a solution to your problem, than an appointment can be made with the head coach and the Athletic director.

Recruiting

You must understand that not all kids can play at the Division 1 level. You must also understand how many openings are available at the Division one level, and how many players play high school football. If your son is athletic enough to play at the high level, he will be found. College coaches are always looking for players. There are certain ways that they will recruit. They will see a player play, they will contact a high school coach, or they hear about an athlete. One of the major ways they will see your son is at college football summer camps, and will watch him play if interested.
