Motivation

Gesture controlled User interface for Inclusive Design

Background
Background o Interaction, Interface, usability, Gesture, Inclusivity Review study o 180 papers , 26 research related and representative projects, 9 commercial products Findings o GCUI Affordable o Usable for many users, so inclusive OpenGesture application: a prototype

Usability evaluation
Usability (Rubin et al. 2008, Albert et al., 2010) GCUI Usability- Design, layout, effectiveness, efficiency, easy of use, learn ability, satisfaction GCUI development and usability framework o Finding Ideal place, range and distance of interaction Time and age factors of GCUI

Analysis and result

The scale of 1..5 for question responses gives us a neutral value (neither strong agree nor disagree) These figures are very similar for all age groups, indicating inclusivity. The ROA analysis -a rectangular menu option arrangement was preferred, closely followed by the triangular configuration. The circular menu was unpopular. A breadth of 4x4x4 where 4 options were positioned on a screen, with a depth of 3 screens was preferred. Finally, the preferred distance of 240cm from the screen. We also need to know- Time factor and age factor of using GCUI

Time and age factor study

Time (Fitts Law ) and Age factors, using the GCUI best configuration

Timing of the tasks by different users Overall success rate of different users Incorporating ability factors into the equation Comparing with another interaction

Conclusion
Result analysis o Not strongly agreed by the participants, nor rejected. o The framework or the best configuration of GCUI Methodology o Standard usability evaluation method and questionnaire GCUI can be a usable and inclusive interface.
