Is the short story suitable for the students of level 2 ?

Yes. The short story is suitable for level two students specifically year five.

Question 2
Does it fulfilll the requirements of the syllabus? 1. In terms of language: A book must conform to the childs reading proficiency (Norton, 2007). This short story fulfill the requirement of this section based on the word list as suggested in the syllabus (stage 2 and 3). Examples: animals, swinging.

1. In terms of language: Grammar also forms part of the language content of the syllabus. The short story shows appropriate use of word order, connectors, verbs, articles, preposition, nouns and pronouns and lastly modifiers based on the syllabus which is recommended for year 5 students (based on the syllabus).

2. In terms of moral values:

- Cleanliness and industriousness (students need to learn to clean up after themselves to manage their life better in the future.
- These conforms to the National Education Philosophy in which such moral values need to be instilled in order to produce holistic individuals who possess high moral standards and who are responsible and capable of achieving high level of personal well-being.

3. In terms of Educational Emphases - Thinking Skill: Enhance the creative thinking skill of the child and learning the language in context. In this short story, Tanya learns to solve her problem(finding her missing book and cleaning her messy room) through her own means(imagining that she is going on a fun-filled adventure instead of seeing it as a tedious chore). - This short story fits the role of childrens literature of developing childrens mind by guiding them to: observing, comparing, classify, hypothesizing, organizing, summarizing, applying and criticizing (Norton, 2007).

- Learning How to Learn Skills: Enables the students to acquire new basic skills that they need for their daily life which is tidying their room. - Preparation for the Real World: know how to take responsibility of tidying after themselves.

3. In terms of Educational Emphases - Multiple Intelligences: a. Interpersonal Intelligence: aware of her own weakness and her untidiness. b. Intrapersonal Intelligence: Tanya communicates with others to find her missing book. c. Spatial Intelligence: Cleaning her own room.

4. In terms of theme - The theme sends a suitable message to the reader. ***

5. In terms of culture: - The short story is suitable for all culture as it address universal issue which is cleanliness. Cleanliness is not only applicable to one particular culture only.
