HSPA+ 42 Summary of Requirements

Ericsson RAN:
RAN software level: W10B Features to be enabled: Dual Carrier HSDPA Node B Hardware: 3xFU, 3xRU, RAX2e depending on the site RNC Hardware: 18xSPB3 boards per RNC Licenses: HS Code Expansion OSS: CD3 RAN Software level: RU20 PP2.11 Features to be enabled: Dual Carrier HSDPA, UL Interference Cancellation Hardware: 2nd carrier kit for 40W (1xAdditional FRIA, 1x Additional FPBA) Licenses: NodeB licenses for new features, plus 3x2nd carrier license per sector Contiguous 10 + 10 MHz Licenses for 42M support (SGSN) and 48M support (GGSN) Rule to modify Max bitrate of Dual Carrier TACs to 50 Mbps Enhanced E.I.R. SCOPE

Non - Gating Items

NSN RAN:

Proceeding with 2nd Carrier Installations, Activations, & Optimization while DUW30 clears FOA/GA and supplies are determined

Not a technical requirement for Dual Carrier E/// - Approx 50% of RBS configured by Ericsson Services with 2ms TTI activated. Rest of sites to be upgraded by TMO as part of BAU. NSN - Feature GA but issues with Samsung Vibrant prevented the rollout. PP2.11 will allow the rollout to continue without issue. 2ms TTI will be rolled out with PP2.11.

Spectrum SGSN & GGSN: HLR:

Harmony Proxy
Special profile to support 42 Mbps bitrate (TCP window settings, etc.) Upgrade NodeB Ethernet capability to 50 Mbps, not a requirement for DC launch, but needed for 42 Mbps data max speed. Need for Additional T1s will be reviewed on a case by case basis

Continuous Packet Connectivity (CPC): E/// - Roll out as soon as nodeB SW load CU3 is rolled out NSN - Feature released last year, but with issues, MP3 SW and PP2.11 expected to fix, following RU20 rollout

Deployment Responsibility

AAV1.0 augmentation to 50Mbps minimum 2ms TTI for Eul (Requires RAX2e installed in RBS) SPB31- New RNC user plane board is required to take speeds beyond 18Mbps W10B RAN SW deployment (both RNC and RBS)

Many sites have already been upgraded to 50Mbps or higher Approx 50% of RBS configured by Ericsson Services with 2ms TTI activated. Rest of sites to be upgraded by TMO as part of BAU. This RNC user plane board is required to take speeds beyond 18Mmbps. Approx 80% of RNC completed. All E/// RNC are on W10B. NodeBs will be completed late Feb / early Mar Currently being deployed by Ericsson Services but requires W10B for full deployment. FOA currently ongoing in Vegas. Issues with HW availability from Ericsson Risk DUW30 is not GA yet. SW version to support DUW may change. FOA exit, with Ericsson MOP, was on 1/24. GA target is 1/28. Initially we may use E/// MOP and services. Transition to an internal TMO MOP and tool may be by end Feb 2011. Feature Requires 2nd carrier to be deployed and this is probably the biggest hurdle (work entails 2nd carrier HW deployment,2nd carrier optimization and possible cell max antennas and MCPA deployment).
