Ports & Equipment Configuration

When all devices that will be used have been powered on and connected to the laptop, the specific port assignments for each device can be checked by going to the My Computer Properties Hardware Device Manager Expand on Modems & Ports. Each device should appear in both the COM Ports & Modem sections. Once all the required devices have been added, click on the Connect All button (or F2) as shown below to connect all the devices to the various ports. If all the devices are successfully configured, there will be a green symbol per row to signify this. The UE to EQ mapping can be changed via the following if required (Note that this needs to be performed before connecting any device, i.e.; when all the symbol colors are red): Right click on EQ item (EQ1, EQ2 etc ;) Select a new number to change the EQ Index. If an index is chosen that is already taken by another device, the two devices will swap indices Click Save to save the current configuration

Common resolutions for undetected ports are: 1)Swapping devices to new ports and attempting to reconnect with new port allocations 2)Incorrect software versions for the device may cause problems with detection 3)Restarting laptop / software / UE / scanner device With TEMS Investigation 8.2.5 most devices are auto-detected and enabled automatically. The following are the general conditions under which this is true: Most UEs (excluding the Huawei datastick) are auto detected PCTel scanners are the only scanners that are auto detected GPS units that use the NMEA protocol as well as Garmin GPS 18 are auto detected.

Huawei Datastick Ports Configuration

The datastick is not automatically detected within TEMS 8.2.5. Instead, the user is required to manually add the device and select the correct ports. Following are the steps required to achieve this. 1)Go to Device Manager. From the desktop, right-click on My Computer Properties Hardware Device Manager Expand on Modems & Ports.

From Modems, select Huawei 3G Modem Right-click Properties Select the Modem tab. Note the Com Port number. It is Com Port 27 for this example From Ports (COM & LPT), note the Com Port number for 3G Application Interface. It is Com Port 28 for this example

1.Command Sequences Command Sequences are used to automate testing of both voice and data services. They are scripts that allow TEMS to make calls automatically without user intervention. These commands are sent to the phones to inform them of call sequence flows. Command sequences have been created for the various UMTS Acceptance test cases and for the ATL & SNQ FTP servers. Due to frequent changes that have occurred with the command sequences, these files are now available at the following location: These files can be imported as follows: Within TEMS, go to Control Command Sequence

Figure 50: Command Sequence Selection Click on the Open button or Control-O in the command sequence window and select the correct scope command sequence xml file.

Figure 51: Command Sequence Import

Following are the command sequence changes that DT Operators will need to make before commencing each drive test. The equipment configuration for the majority of Acceptance test cases will be: 1)EQ1 = Scanner 2)EQ2 4 = Samsung UE / Huawei Datastick Ensure a Dial-up connection exists and the Com Port has been correctly assigned for the UE executing data calls. For eg; in the above figure, DC4 is attached to COM 17. Its corresponding Dial-Up connection should be connected to COM 17 only From Control Command Sequence, ensure the correct command sequence xml file is loaded for that particular drive Ensure an UL file exists for the UL FTP and correct directories have been set to store the log files. Ensure the prefix has been set as per the naming conventions from Section 8.1. For command sequences that require manual user intervention, press Start Recording or F6 to start log file recording otherwise Press Run from the Command Sequence window or Ctrl+G to initiate the command sequence. To start the scanner, select MS1 from the top left corner (below File Menu) and then from the next drop down menu, select WCDMA CPICH Scanning. Press start scanning or Ctrl+J to start the UMTS scanner. Ensure that GSM measurements are also being collected Call sequence termination occurs either manually or automatically according to each scope. Cluster Drive (S12) a. Automatically occurs after 30 mins if no drop call occurs for MS3 Cluster Drive (S11) a.Manual intervention required to start & stop logfiles. Ideally, each stationary location should have only 1 log file

Cluster Drive (S13) Manual intervention required to start & stop logfiles. Ideally, once the logfile has reached approx 100MB / 30 mins have elapsed, the drive test operator should start a new logfile. Swapping of the log file should occur when all handsets are on idle mode. To ensure this happens, stop the command sequence by pressing the STOP button or Ctrl+H. It is recommended to STOP the command sequence when MS4 (PS FTP) comes to idle mode (after hearing the PS Detached message). You will find MS4 in idle mode when the phone is in WAIT period on the command sequence window. Now press Swap Logfiles or F4. This will automatically create a new log file with the original filename specified but with a different log file number. At the end of the drive, stop the logfile by pressing Stop Recording or Ctrl+F6 Press the Disconnect All icon or Ctrl+F2 to logically disconnect all the equipments connected to TEMS. The devices can then be powered down and USB cables removed from their respective USB slots At the conclusion of the drive test, rename the 1st log file by adding a suffix _01
