Introduction
In the workplace today, the second greatest reason
for lost workdays is injuries that are due to
overexertion when performing lifting procedures
(Snook, 1988).
A number of recent studies have indicated that there
is a relationship between occupational tasks involving
frequent bending, as in repetitive lifting tasks, and
increased risk of low back disorders (National
Academy of Sciences, 2001).
Problem Statement
Current method = High level of risks
Substandard design of work system/procedures
The tool used = Still harm
Occurrence of MSD to the workers.
Objective
To study the manhole slab lifting operation.
Develop work procedures for lifting the concrete slab
of manhole cover.
Design tool for lifting the manhole cover.
Musculoskeletal Disorders
Musculoskeletal disorders are injuries or dysfunctions
affecting muscles, bones, nerves, tendons, ligaments,
joints, cartilages, and spinal discs.
Sprains, strains, tears, pain and connective tissue
injuries

Conclusion
The study observed the new tool design can help in
reducing the risk factor among the workers with
providing the lever hoist, permanent magnet lifter
(PML) and tire features on the new tool design.
As the conclusion, the objectives of this project have
been achieved.
