V Any waiver of any provision of this Code of
Business Conduct and Ethics for a member
of the Company·s Board of Directors or an
executive officer must be approved in
writing by the Company·s Board of Directors
and promptly disclosed. Any waiver of any
provision of this Code of Business Conduct
and Ethics with respect any other employee,
agent or contractor must be approved in
writing by the Company·s Corporate
Counsel.
V We expect all of our employees, agents,
contractors and consultants to adhere to
these rules in carrying out their duties for
the Company. The Company will take
appropriate action against any employee,
agent, contractor or consultant whose
actions are found to violate these policies or
any other policies of the Company.
Disciplinary actions may include immediate
termination of employment or business
relationship at the Company's sole
discretion.
0 Infosys sacks techies for ¶unethical behaviour·.
Infosys Technologies has sacked a software engineer,
Abhishek Gupta, for making a hoax call to budget
carrier GoAir at Delhi airport ½ctober 25 to avoid
missing his Bangalore-bound flight. It happened in their
Mysore Branch. He thought the hoax call will delay the
flight and he could reach the airport in the meantime to
catch the flight. Gupta was taken into custody and
jailed.
As the police were investigating the case and the
accused was in the judicial custody, Pai (Head of HRD
said the company would take strict action against him
after the law had taken its course.
The company was also forced to suspend
another engineer, Krishnamurthy,
working at its Mysore development
centre, after the police arrested him Dec
3 on the charge of molesting a French
woman.
Krishnamurthy remains suspended as
police inquiry is still on. ´We will not
spare anyone if (his or her behaviour is
not in line with our code of conductµ, Pai
said.
2 Sexual Harassment at Infosys (½akland,US
The case examines the controversy surrounding the
charges of sexual harassment and unlawful
termination made by an employee against Infosys,
leading Indian software company, during 2000-03.
Phaneesh Murthy, a top level executive and a director
on the company board, was accused of sexually
harassing and unlawfully firing his subordinate, Reka
Maximovitch. The matter was resolved through an
out-of-court settlement and Phaneesh quit his job
immediately after the matter.
After the matter, the company took measures to
improvise its internal policies regarding Sexual
Harassment at Workplace, making it more strict.
