Simple/Basic Sentences
• This type of sentence (also called an “independent
clause’) is made up of:
• SUBJECT + VERB + OBJECT

• Simple sentences can be combined to make
longer and complicates sentences. Linking two
or more simple sentences so that each part is

equal and make sense on its own results in a
compound sentence. Example :

Compound sentences are formed
in one of three ways:

3) COMPLEX SENTENCES
A complex sentence is made up of a basic
