The Romanian IT&C industry have a tradition since 1957, being

the first country in CEE building computers of the first
generation CIFA-1957, MECIPT-1961, DACICC-1962 . A powerful
industrial sector was created at the start of the 70s, with licences and west-
technologies from CII-France, Friden-Holland, Ampex, Memorex, Control
Data – USA, having facilities of research, production, service, commerce,
computing centers, where were working around 40.000 people.
In that period the “made in Romania” computers were sold in Czech Republik,
East Germany, Poland, China, Orient. The 70s tehnologies became moral
used in 80s, beacause of the non-investing state policy. After 90s started to
regenerate.
