What are they? Who invented them? What do they look like? What
applications do they have, both negative and positive? What
possibilities for the future do they have?

First of all, what is

Nanotechnology?
is the science in charge of
studying matter manipulation
at an atomic or molecular
scale.

|nd now, what is a nanobot? | nanobot, as anything that contains ³nano-

³ in its name, is an extremely small robot, of around 10í9 meters. These
robots are, of course, completely hypothetical, since no one has been
able to build

In 1979, Eric Drexler encountered

Feynman's talk on atomic manipulation
and "nano-factories." The Caltech
physicist's ideas inspired Drexler to put
these concepts into motion by
expanding Feynman's vision of
molecular manufacturing

Drexler's primary goal was to build upon the

physicist's revolutionary foundation. |s a
result, though the tearm was yet to be coined,
the field of nanotechnology was created.

Early diagnosis and targeted drug-

delivery for cancer, biomedical
instrumentation, surgery,
pharmacokinetics monitoring of
diabetes, and health care. In the
future the medical nanotechnology
tries to expect to inject the nanobots
in the patients to make a work at a
cellular level.
