COLLOIDAL PROCESSING OF NANOMATERIALS

BY
MANJUNATH G H
REG NO. 09GAMB4005
INTRODUTION

Colloids are the mixtures whose particles are larger

than the size of a molecule but smaller than the
particles that can be seen with naked eye.

Colloidal system is a mixture of two or more

components in which one is dispersed within the
other.
FABRICATION METHODS
1.TOP-DOWN METHODS

Bulk materials are broken into nano sized particle.

Example- Ball milling method
2.BOTTOM-UP METHODS
Nano materials are produced by building of atom by
a atom.
Example- Chemical vapour deposition method.
SYNTHESIS OF NANOMATERIALS.
Sol-gel method- Sols are formed in liquid, by drying
the liquid it is possible to obtain powders, thin
films etc.,

Colloidal method- Solution of the different ions are

mixed under controlled temperature and pressure.
