MICROSOFT WORD

Microsoft Word is a widely used commercial word processor designed by Microsoft.

Microsoft Word is a component of the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software, but
can also be purchased as a stand-alone product.
It was initially launched in 1983 and has since been revised numerous times. Microsoft
Word is available for both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.

DID YOU KNOW ?

Microsoft Word is no longer just a word processor – it’s a sophisticated software
application that has a multitude of uses, only one of which is creating basic
documents. Considering the many built-in templates for resumes, flyers,
brochures, fax cover sheets, and letterheads, Microsoft Word is also an
economical option for small businesses, nonprofits, and other groups or
individuals to use for a variety of professional purposes.
THE MAGICAL FEATURE!

Most users know the basics, like how to

underline or italicize words or select different
fonts. Then there is everyone’s favorite feature –
undo, the magical arrow which pretends like the
last action you just took, which you deemed a
mistake, never even happened!

Do you ever wish to undo all your mistakes in life? But this microsoft word
feature wont work on it , so lets all take our mistakes as inspiration to be a
better person in the future.
INSERT HYPERLINKS: INSERT, HYPERLINK
(Using Hyperlinks Strategically)

• This feature is incredibly helpful if you need to embed a website hyperlink, or if you
need to refer a reader to “fine print” text, like legal disclaimers, which would otherwise
take up a lot of space within a document but doesn’t need to be included.
• Users will need to select the text that will contain the hyperlink, and this text will turn
blue and be underlined as a visual cue for the reader
• One of the best ways to give your Word document that extra cutting edge is to insert
hyperlinks on images and text to make your document interactive (by right clicking on
the text/image and clicking hyperlink, you can then select where you wish to direct the
user to) where possible. A great way to further utilise this tool, is to direct users to
another article or web page that has your digital footprint all over.
Insert hyperlinks: Insert, Hyperlink

These features are just a

few of Microsoft Word’s
user friendly tools that can
be implemented rather
easily. However basic they
may sound, they will
provide you with the extra
confidence and skills
needed to shine with
Microsoft Word.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
If instead of making changes you want to make suggestions, you can highlight a
part of the text and go to Insert and select Comment. This will place a comment
over that area of text, and you can write anything you want in there. You can also
comment on comments, allowing you to write more or respond to someone else's
comment.
 To insert a comment in a document, highlight the area of text where you want
to comment on. Click the Review tab on the Ribbon then click New Comment.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

 That opens up a
balloon pointing
to the highlighted
text you can leave
your comment in.

 You can leave as many

comments as needed in
the document, in this
example we created
three comments in
different areas. Now you
or anyone you’re sharing
the document with will be
able to read the
comments.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

 REVIEW COMMENTS
You might want to just take a look at the comments you’ve
made in the Reading Pane. Again click the Review tab
and then select Reading Pane, and how you want them to
display, either Horizontal or Vertically.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Here is an example of reviewing the comments in Horizontal
View. You can see the comments, when they were made, and by
whom. Click on an individual comment and it will take you to the
section in the document where it’s at.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS
Here is what it would look like to have your
comments show in the Reading Pane Vertically
on the left side. You can choose whichever view
works best for you.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

 LEAVE COMMENTS TO THE COMMENTS

Sometimes you might want to respond to a comment and can do
so by leaving one to the existing comment. This feature really
comes in handy when collaborating on documents and for
brainstorming. Just highlight the existing comment and click the
New Comment button.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

Then you can leave another comment to the existing

comment underneath it.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

 DELETE COMMENTS
After corrections have been made or you change your
mind about something, you might want to delete the
comment. Just highlight the comment you want gone and
click the Delete button.
LEAVING COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS

Or you can select the dropdown and

delete all comments from the
document too.
