To study the utilization of Concrete filled Double skin tube to resist
shear in a seismic excitation and optimize its connection to the
columns for shear transfer.
To enable more rapid repair and provide lower repair cost.

Analytical Experimental
The main objectives of the current paper are to describe the innovative testing
procedure and provide some insight into the lateral impact behavior and failure of simply
supported axially pre-loaded CFDST columns.
The findings of this study will serve as a benchmark reference for future analysis and
design of CFDST columns

Wei Li et al (2012) , Axial strength of concrete-filled double skin steel tubular (CFDST)
columns with preload on steel tubes Thin-Walled Structures
Concrete filled double skin steel tubular (CFDST) columns have some advantages when
compared to conventional concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) columns, such as lighter
self-weight and better cyclic performance.
This paper discusses the behaviour of axially loaded CFDST columns with preload
either on the outer tube alone or on both tubes. A general purpose finite element
analysis (FEA) model is developed to predict the behaviour of CFDST columns with the
steel tubes subjected to preload.
Formulas are proposed for calculating the ultimate strength of CFDST columns with
preload on steel tubes.
