PROBLEMS FACED AND SOLUTIONS TAKEN
What is
KURKURE ?
 Kurkure is a brand of corn puffs, developed and
produced by PepsiCo India.
 The snack was developed entirely in India.
 It was launched in 1995 and has its automated plants are
at Channo (Punjab, India), Kolkata and Pune.
 Kurkure is also being manufactured in Pakistan.
 It is launched as sub brand under the umbrella of Lehar.
 In 2001, it stepped out of the shadow of Lehar.
MARKETING
STRATERGIES
 Their target market is mainly children, youth and families.
 Their main promotions were advertisements and direct sales.
 In 2004, Indian actor-celebrity Juhi Chawla was featured in
advertisements for Kurkure. Kurkure was launched in Tamil
Media Industry in 2008 with actress Simran as it's brand
ambassador.
 In 2012, Parineeti Chopra, Kunal Kapoor, Boman
Irani, Ramya Krishnan, and Farida Jalal, started to advertise
Kurkure.
 It was also launched in Pakistan in 2007, where it is
manufactured by, PepsiCo Pakistan, the local division
of PepsiCo and actress Ayesha Omer has featured in its TVs.

CRISIS FACED BY KURKURE

 The main problem faced by Kurkure was a false


rumour that Kurkure products contain plastics.
 The rumour had frequently been spread via videos
depicting the snacks being flammable, even though
this is based primarily on their starch content.
 PepsiCo faced criticism over the move, as it also
included the blocking of Twitter posts that were
clearly satirizing the controversy and order.
 It got viral through social medias like Facebook,
Twitter and YouTube.

SOLUTIONS TAKEN BY
KURKURE
 Relaunch kukure with newly designed packets with the
words 'Made with Dal, Corn and Rice' printed on it and a
wide rage of variety flavors
 LA_PARSSE test to trace plastic contents was conducted
at AIIMS , an a clean chit was procured , proving no
plastic contents.

.
 A special BLOG was launch by kurkure to regain the customer confidence
effectively and sooner
 Campaigns were conducted in support with other PARENT_COMPANY
products like soft-drinks etc.
 They recently did an advertisement on how they manufacture their product
and safety and quality measures taken for producing the product. They did
a television add to convince their customers that Kurkure is made from
edible ingredients including rice meal, corn meal, gram meal, salt, edible
oil, and spices which is used in our daily kitchen. When you burn Kurkure,
Kurkure melts because of the presence of carbohydrate and not because
there is plastic in Kurkure. (Scientific proof that “ kurkure doesn’t contain
plastic ”)
