Problem Statement
• With the increase in population, the use of
electricity is increasing. The pressure on the
non-renewable sources, fossil fuels is
increasing. Hence, use of renewable sources
should be increased.
• Renewable sources like Solar, Wind and other
sources are not entirely reliable as we cannot
predict when they are available.
• Vibration is the major causes for the wind
turbine failures; Wind speed above 80km/hr.
causes a heavy vibration in the bearings of the
wind turbine which can break the windmill 3
Introduction
• Wind energy, solar energy, hydro energy etc. have
the potential to meet our energy needs.
• Alone Wind energy is capable of producing a lot of
energy but the presence of wind is highly
unpredictable
• Similarly, Solar energy is present throughout the
day but the solar irradiations may vary due to sun
intensity, unpredictable shadows by clouds etc.
• In order to avoid this difficulties for the generation
of Power, we can use the idea for relay.

4
• Hence, when one source is unavailable or
insufficient in meeting the demands, the other
energy source can compensate or both together
than help in the generation of Power.
• We are going to use Internet of Things(IOT) for
smart, wireless remote monitoring required for
renewable energy farms.
• Most of the existing products use memory card or
PC for data logging. This stored data is accessible
only in that particular PC alone. This limitation is
overcome by IoT technology .So this could be the
attractive solution/product for the present wind
farms and the customers.
5
Firstly, we will calculate the power generated by the windmills.
The formula to calculate the power generated in a Windmill is given by –

Power = KCp0.5ρA
Where:
P = Power output, kilowatts
Cp = Maximum power coefficient, ranging from 0.25 to 0.45, dimension
less (theoretical maximum = 0.59)
ρ = Air density, lb/ft3
A = Rotor swept area, ft2 or π D2/4 (D is the rotor diameter in ft, π =
3.1416)
V = Wind speed, mph
k = 0.000133 A constant to yield power in kilowatts.
