A clause is a group of related words that contains both a subject and a predicate. There are two
kinds of clauses, the independent and subordinate clause.
An independent clause is a group of words that expresses a complete thought and can stand
alone. A dependent/subordinate clause is a group of words that has no complete thought and
cannot stand alone.
