Diabetes Mellitus is a disease where the level of glucose(simple sugar) in the
blood is high because the blood can not release or use insuline adequate

Cause of production insuline hormone :

1.Less pancreatic ability since birth and damage to

the pancrease
2. Excessive production of insuline-fighthing
hormones(thyroid and cortisone)
in people with diabetes mellitus blood glucose can not
be used properly, thus causing the state of
hyperglikemia

 DM sufferers have the risk of suffering specific complications

resulting from the course of the disease,
 retinopathy (can cause blindness),
 renal failure,
 neuropathy,
 arterosclerosis,
 coronary artery disease
 diabetes mellitus type 1:reduced glucose
tolerance due to decreased insulin hormone
secretion due to progressive damage of
pancreatic cells
 diabetes mellitus type 2: impaired tissue
sensitivity to insulin
Mechanism of insulin administration can lower
blood glucose levels and increase the use and
storage in the liver and muscles as glycogen.

 excess insulin can cause hypoglycemia that

causes seizures and even death except in
patients who are given glucose
