 INTRODUCTION
As part of the extra curricular activity I conducted ‘Rural Reporting’ of the village Barachatti located in
Gaya dist. Of Bihar.

I had the opportunity to closely observe the various forms of interventions and interactions taking place in
the village and it also helped me to understand the impacts, these interventions and interactions has on
the lives of the people.
The data in the report has been collected from keen observation , interaction with the locals of the village
as well as authorities of the village , informal interviews and some non-participatory observations. Various
statics about the location of the village, its geographical features and the climate of the village has been
taken from the help of internet.

The objectives of the rural reporting was to understand the geography , the socio-economic status of the
people , to see the development of villages and rural India and most importantly to bend classroom
learning towards field work as a ECE engineer.

Most of the people in the village are unaware of technologies and are almost illiterate and also hesitant to
discuss about their assets and income, which have caused a little hindrance in depicting the economy of the
village.

Barachatti looks very beautiful during this season.

Winter Season in Barachatti : The Month of November marks the start of winter season in Barachatti.
Temperature drops down in between 12°C to 30°C. Winters last till February in Barachatti. This is one of
the best seasons to visit Barachatti as the place seems washed and beautiful after the rains.

The climate of the village is cooler & damper than the adjoining villages. The sherghati area comprising
mainly Bumear,Dangra,Sobh is considered unhealthy while all other area have a healthy climate. Winter

cattle, buffaloes, goats and pigs.

Barachatti has a large number of household industries, producing incense sticks

(Sharma), local sweets tilkut (made with sesame seed) and lai (made with poppy seed),
stone-work, hand weaving, power-loom weaving, textiles and garments, small-scale
manufactured goods, and plastic products. Small-scale industries also include
agricultural services, metalworking, machinery and equipment production and repair
services. The main vegetable market in the village is the Barachatti Market.
Commercial activities are located along its main roads; the city also has a large number
of informal shops.
 conclusion:-

The following conclusions have been drawn after the completion of the study.

1. The people in the village have agriculture as their primary source of their income and livelihood.
As the geographical condition of the village is not suitable for good production and there is lack of
water and irrigation equipment , therefore there is a need for irrigation pump in the village.

2. Demand for health insurance is very high and there is need for warehouse facility. Tailoring facility
is also required in the village. There is no proper connectivity inside the village to travel from one
place to another, therefore proper connector roads in the village should be built.

3. People from the village migrate to other towns and cities in time of distress to earn livelihood so
there should be a raise in employment.

4. Above all people should be made aware of the technology and other social rising standards for
their welfare and their prosperity.
