What is ISO ?
ISO – International Organization for Standardization,
the world’s largest developer of voluntary International
Standards. It provide state of the art specifications for
products services and good practice. Helping to make
industry more efficient and effective.

How ISO work ?
ISO is an independent, non government organization
(NGO) made up of members from the national
standard bodies of 164 countries.
ISO Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland that
coordinates the system.
ISO History
 ISO story began in 1946 when delegates of 25
countries met at the Institute of Civil Engineers in
London and decided to create a new international
organization to facilitate the coordination and
unification of industrial standards.
February 1947 the new Organization, ISO officially
began their operations
ISO History
 19,000 publications of international standards
covering all aspects of technology and manufacturing.
At present they have members from 164 countries and
3,335 technical bodies to take care of standard
development.
More than 150 personnel work full time for ISO’s
Central Secretariat in Geneva
ISO Name
 International Organization for Standardization would
have a different acronyms in different language (IOS in
English)
Organisation Internationale de Normalisation (OIN in
French)
The founders give it short form ISO, ISO is derived
from Greek word ISOS, meaning equal. Whatever the
country, whatever the language, the short form is
always ISO.
