Vehicle Tracking

System
Introduction
• Vehicle Tracking or Fleet Tracking connects location
of a Vehicle with Software or Mobile Application.
• It collects data such as fleet management solution
showing exact time behind when, where and how it is
used.
• It uses Satellite or GPS in order to track the location
of vehicle and delivers real time location.
• Vehicle Tracking system such as GPS is fitted with
the vehicle coveredly so that it not visible.
Types of Vehicle Tracking System

• There are two types of Vehicle Tracking System

1) Passive System
2) Active System
Passive System
• It helps the GPS receiver to record the location of the
vehicle as it is driven.
• Once the vehicle reaches the destination the tracker
can be removed and data downloaded can be
computed for viewing and analysis.
• Example:
1) Location of stops, opening & closing of door
2) Route average of Instant Speed.
Active System
• This system monitor the same activity and
information like Passive system.
• In addition, the data is transmitted through
satellite or GSM over cellular Network to a
computer or Smart phones in real time.
• Example:
1) Fuel & Oil level can be monitored.
2) Odometer reading, Engine RPM, Brake Air
Pressure can also be monitored.
Components of Vehicle
Tracking System

1)A mobile GPS receiver

2)A GSM Network receiver
3)Geographic Maps
GPS & GSM Receiver
• It is fitted in the vehicle along with the device
which sends and receives data from them.
• The power for the device is supplied directly
from the vehicle’s battery.
• It can be accessed through PC’s using web
software or using mobile phones.
Geographic Maps
• It helps the user to identify the current location
information using geographic maps.
• Vehicle movement report for a particular route can
also be viewed on the Map.
• Beside the movement, other information such as
vehicle route history and New trip can be planned
using Geographic Maps.
Information provided by the
Vehicle Tracking System
Current status of the Vehicle
 Dashboard details
Tracing of the vehicle
Daily or Monthly reports of the Vehicle
indicating fuel level, odometer reading, Air
brake pressure etc..
 Alerts such as Critical alert or Warning alerts
are provided and helps to find dealers.
Fleet Management
• Fleet management is an administrative approach that
allows companies to organize and coordinate work
vehicles.
• The aim to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and
provide compliance with government regulations.
• It includes following and recording mechanical
diagnostics and driver behaviour.
Geofence Management
• Geofencing is a technological advancement in GPS
fleet management that can be applied in different
ways, for varying purposes.
• Geofencing is simply the capability to use signals
from a device to pinpoint that device’s location
(known as geolocation or geotracking)
• To draw a digital boundary to encircle the area,
the fencing part of the word to monitor the vehicle
driven by the driver.
Conclusion
• Vehicle Tracking System saves time and money and
helps to make the business more easier.
• It helps in identifying the driving behaviour of the
driver and to provide proper instruction to him.
• It helps to precisely predict delivery time and inform
about late delivery.
• Tracking fuel consumption allows business to
calculate extra travel cost.
