Seminar/Formation
THE JOYFUL SOURCE AND
SUMMIT TO CALL TO HOLINESS
 We already have the experience of the call to
holiness
 Already experience being called

 at the sign of the cross

In the name of the Father ….
it is God the Trinity who called us to
communion.
1. Participation
Each one is called as a gathered community
If that happens we experience Gaudete et
Exultate (Rejoice and Be Glad)

Even if you are alone – it is always a celebration

of the Church “ecclesia”
A celebration of those
who are called.
2. Prepared to hear the Word of God
This is the story-telling written
It is the Word of God that gives us joy. “Speak
Lord, your servant is listening.”
For the Israelites the Shema is very important
It is the WORD that creates in Genesis
… that liberates in the experience of Exodus
… that forms the people
… that inspires the prophets
So the WORD is the joyful foundation of our
identity
Whenever the Word of God is proclaim at Mass,
it is not just the lector, it is the God speaking
through the lector.
It is the LIVING WORD of GOD
3. Nourishment
In Holy Communion we are nurtured by the
Body of Christ
The Story of Card. Francois-Xavier Nguyen van
Thuan
4. Commissioning
In Holy Eucharis we are sent out in mission to
apply the Eucharist in our lives.

“Go, the Mass is ended.”

We are sent with joy.
What we receive joyfully,
we share it to others
Call – “Vocare” , tawag, vocation

In order to understand the nature of vocation

we need to ask 3 questions.

Q1 – Who the Lord calls us to be?

Q2 – How the Lord calls us to become?
Q3 – What the Lord calls us to be?
This is about the question of IDENTITY
#10
This is about the question of LIFESTYLE
#3-9
The saints who encourage and accompany us
1. martyrdom
2. heroic practice of virtue
3. offering of one’s life even until death

Bl. Maria Gabriella Sagheddu,

who offered her life for the
unity of Christians.
- Parents who raised their children with
immense love
- In those men and women who work hard to
support their families
- In the sick
- In elderly religious who never lose their smile

- We might call them “middle class of holiness”

They live in our midst;
They reflect God’s presence
This is about the question of MISSION
#19-22
Your Mission in Christ
1Thess 4 :3 “this is the will of God, your
sanctification.”
Activity that sanctifies
You cannot grow in holiness without committing
yourself, body and soul, to giving your best to this
endeavor
 Silence
 Interaction
 Peace
 Service
We are called to be
contemplatives even
in the midst of action,
and to grow in
holiness by
responsibly and
generously carrying
out our proper
mission
 Anything done out of
anxiety, pride or the need
to impress others will not
lead to holiness.
Distractions:
- New gadgets
- The excitement of travel
- Endless array of consumer
goods
- Absolute free time for
entertainment and
pleasures
1. Human Vocation – FULLY HUMAN

2. Christian Vocation – FULLY CHRISTIAN

3. Specific Christian Vocation -

Call to embody our Baptism

So, to be fully Christians,

we have to live out the
demands of the Gospel,
the demands of Christian
life

 We are all called to be holy by living our lives
with love and by bearing witness in
everything we do, wherever we find ourselves.

Are you called to the consecrated life?

Be holy by living out your commitment with joy.

Are you married?

Be holy by loving and caring for your husband or
wife, as Christ does for the Church.
 Do you work for a living?
Be holy by laboring with integrity and skill in
the service of your brothers and sisters

Are you a parent or grandparent?

Be holy by patiently teaching the
little ones how to follow Jesus.

Are you in a position or authority?

Be holy by working for the common good and
renouncing personal gain.
The temptation to dwell on your own
weakness, raise your eyes to Christ crucified
and say:

“LORD, I AM A POOR SINNER, BUT YOU

CAN WORK THE MIRACLE OF MAKING
ME A LITTLE BIT BETTER.”
In the Church, holy yet made up of sinners, you
will find everything you need to grow towards
holiness
 Scripture
 The Sacraments
 Holy Places
 Living communities
 The witness of the Saints
 And a multi-faceted beauty that
proceeds from God’s love
