on my first day, i was preclinic in Arifin Ahmad


Hospital, i was given advice and direction by lect
urers and field supervisors, and then we went to t
he room around hospital for orientation. We were
taken to our room where we practiced.

Honestly, i dont know anything about the rooms,


so i was quite confused about what should i do be
cause this is my first experience in Arifin Ahmad
Hospital.

I and my friends was preclinic in anyelir room. T


here are so many patient that i can see, like breast
cancer, or another cancer and patient affected by
burns. The nurse was so kind and friendly so they
gave us direction. When they call me, they alway
s told me to took an action so i was enthutiastic.

When i gave action to patient, i always bring


equipment and i was never forgot to used tha
t. Sometimes i made a mistake but primary n
urse always gave me direction. I preclinic for
3 days.

On my first day, in nurse station, we started the guard pa


ss with a prayer. I met at the patient assigment to receive
report from the night shift charge nurse, seen patient iden
tity and medical diagnosis and primary nurse gave us sm
all room. And a reported from night shift charge nurse is
:
General condition of the patient, patient complaint, vital
signs, the latest examination and laboratory results and di
agnoses, nursing problems, nursing plan, medical therapy
, medical planner.

After that, in the bed patient, primary nurse explained ab


out morning care until 3 PM, and they must responsible f
or the patient during the morning shift. We must greet pat
ient and we gave the opportunity to family to ask questio
ns.
Next, in nurse station again, primary nurse asked the nigh
t shift charge nurse to report the inventory of medicine an
d tools.
So, we started our practice in small room...

 Reported about medicine and facilities (tools, blanket and laken i


n medical terminologi)
 Bathe the patient
 Provided personal hygiene
 Gave medication accord to the doctor’s prescription.
 Gave patient meals
 Changed the bandage in patients diagnosed with breast cancer and
burns
 Checked the patient's temperature, pulse rate, respiration rate and
blood pressure.
 Checked and replace the infusion of patients who have run out.

Same with previous day, i did everything from morning


with the same activty. We can call it daily activity in hos
pital. But the different is:
- Repaired the infused fluid that’s blocked until it runs
- Moved the patient after surgery from the operating bed
to the gurney

Same with first day and second day, but the different is:
- moved the patient breast cancer from bed to the wheel
chair and deliver her to the front of the gate

This experience taught me how important it’s to asses our p


atient and to teach our patient beforehand about the react
ion the patient could have due to the medication.
During clinicals, I had many experiences where I had to thi
nk on my feet and conduct nursing care quickly. These e
xperiences taught me a lot about how to be a nurse and e
mphasized the importance of conducting proper patient c
are.
