Chemistry Project Report.

 Paper is a material that has been around for about 2000 years.
 Paper, and the ability to mass product it, has resulted in the development of writing
as a means to pass down information through the ages.
 This in turn has accelerated information duplication and exchange, and led to the
cultural and technological advancements.
 And while the benefits of digital storage are many, paper still offers some
advantage like ease of storage, no need for file conversions, and the fact that it can
be produced sustainably.

However paper is made from cutting trees,

which causes many environmental problems.
 Producing recycled paper involves between 28 - 70% less energy consumption
than virgin paper and uses less water. This is because most of the energy used in
papermaking is the pulping needed to turn wood into paper.
 Paper is a biodegradable material. This means that when it goes to landfill, as it
rots, it produces methane, which is a potent greenhouse gas (20 times more potent
than carbon dioxide).
 Recycled paper produces 73% less air pollution than if it was made from raw
materials.
 Rather than throwing small pieces of paper in the trash, they can be recycled at
home itself and can be used for various purposes.
 Cutting of trees is saved. Paper can be used again and again and thus
environment is saved.
Supplies Required:-
 Water
 Scrap papers
 Plastic bucket or container
 Kitchen blender
 Rolling pin
 Sponge or towel or soaking water.
 Rip the papers into small pieces and put them in
plastic bucket or container which contains water
for some time.
 Put the wet paper slurry into blender and make a
uniform paste. If you want colourful paper then u
can add colour in this stage.
 Take that slurry, put it on a table and spread it
uniformly on the base table with rolling pin. Give
desired shape you want.
 Soak the remaining water with sponge.
 Dryit under sunlight. After it is dried the
handmade paper is ready to use.
 Thin handmade paper can be used as textured paper with different colours.
 Rough paper.
 If thickness is increased it can be used as a substitute for thermocol for packing.
 Can be used as notes for daily tasks.
 Used in making greeting cards.
 Can be used for decorative purposes.
 The handmade paper is not of superior quality.
 The paper is little brittle than normal paper.
 The quality can also become better if the slurry is very uniformly distributed to
avoid lumps.
 However quality can be increased to a better extent by placing the paper in
between two nylon mesh to dry.
 Paper quality also depends on the quantity of water used. Not too much nor too
less.
 We can make paper at home from the trash papers or useless papers.
 That papers can be used at home purposes in various ways.
 So recycling it at home reduces the cost of recycling also and reduces the cost of
buying the new ones.
 Paper is made from trees so if we save paper we indirectly save trees.
 If trees are saved from being cut, it is good for human life only.
 So ,

RECYCLE PAPER. SAVE TREES AND SAVE ENVIRONMENT.
