ILLITERACY

Comparison between public/government schools and

private schools
Scenerio

Salma(mother) lives in Jaurah Sian(village near Gujranwala),is very concerned about her
fifteen year old son’s(Jameel) education. She wants her son to be capable of competing
with others his age nationally and internationally however she believes the quality of
education provided at the (only) government school there is extremely bad. Salma wants
her son to go to a private school as the quality of education provided is good, yet it is
difficult for her to do so as she will have to move to Gujranwala due to the absence of a
private school in her village, and she feels that the expenses she’ll have to cover will
increase if her son studies in a private school as the high amount of fee doesn’t include
the purchase of books, uniforms, transportation, etc.
Stakeholders

1. Salma(concerned mother)
2. Jamil and other students(receiving lack of good quality education)
3. Lawyer
4. Local government(needs to be concerned and engaged in the development of that
certain area)
5. Education ministers(need to improve the quality of education)
6. Government of Pakistan(needs to allocate a sufficient amount of budget towards
education)
7. Literacy rate of Pakistan(If Pakistanis are provided with good quality and proper
education, the overall literacy rate of Pakistan can increase)
8. Economy(The more the educated population is, The more they can do for Pakistan and
its economy)
Solution

By chance a lawyer who deals with education is surveying the literacy rate of rural areas
in Punjab. He randomly visits and interviews the locals of Jaurah Sian about the quality
of education provided in public schools. Coincidentally one of those locals include
Salma. After listening to her and other locals’ response he decided to take a stand. He
fought a case on the behalf of the locals against the government of Jaurah Sian over the
lack of development in education over there. Eventually he wins the case and within a
year the Government improves the education system. They start hiring educated
teachers by giving them a training first, and also increase the criteria for teachers, the
curriculum is improved, more educational institutes are built and within a year and a
half a college and university are also built. Along with the promotion of grander quality
education for women by the government.
