    FACTORY AND MACHINERY (NOISE EXPOSURE)

    REGULATIONS 1989
    NOISE IS A SENSATION OF ACOUSTIC WAVES ; UNPLEASANT, UNNWANTED DISTURBING SOUND

    • Permissible exposure limit (PEL) : 90db (A) 8-hr TWA i.e heavy truck, construction sites, chainsaw
    • Action level (AL) : 85db (A) 8-hr TWA ; start taking precaution
    • Max 115db (A) at any time
    • Impulsive nose (sudden burst of noise)mwith peak level not exceeding 140db i.e jet engine/gunshot

    HEARING PROTECTION DEVICES


    • Earplug and muffs that rated with NRR (Noise Reduction Rating)
    • NRR is a measure of how much noise is filtered out
