CONDITIONING SYSTEM
SEMINAR BY
DHALPE BHAGWAT
MHATRE ANIKET ANIL
PATIL NIKHIL NARESH

UNDER GUIDANCE OF
PROF. KUNAL THANEKAR
DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
2017-18
Introduction
● Air conditioning can be as high as 25-40% of a
household’s annual energy costs

● Many low-income residents cannot afford this and go

without air conditioning

● Fans are useless at temperatures above 90 deg F with

humidity above 35%
Objectives
● To promote and to strengthen the use of solar air-
conditioning systems.

● To avoid use of any Freon or other hazardous chemicals.

● To obtain replenishable power.

● To make air conditioning economical on long run.

● To avoid causing any type of pollution.

● To reduce bills generated by usage of electricity.

Solar power air conditioning
system
Working principle

● Solar energy received from sun concentrated on solar panel to

convert into electrical energy

●It is connected to battery to store converted electric energy in

it

●Then battery is connected to inverter and inverter is connected

to air conditioner

●When necessary conditions are made air conditioner starts and

gives desired cooling
Components
● Solar Panel :-
Solar panel refers to photovoltaic module is
electrically connected and mounted on the supporting
structure. Electrical connections are made in series to
achieve desired output voltage and in parallel to provide
desired current capability.

Types of Solar Panel :-

1) Monocrystal silicon
2) Polycrystal silicon
3) Thin film
Components
● Battery:-
Battery stores the electrical power in form of
chemical reaction. Without battery we would only power
when sun is shining or generator is running.
Types of Battery :-
1) Lead acid
2) Lithium ion
3) Nickel Cadmium
● Inverter:-
The power of inverter is heart of the system. It
makes 220volts AC from 12volts DC stored in batteries. It
can also charge batteries if connected to AC lines.
Components
● Charge controller:-
Charge controller is needed to prevent
overcharging. Proper charging of battery will prevent the
damage and will increase life and performance.
● Refrigerants:-
Refrigerants can be defined as medium by
which heat transfer takes place . It absorbs heat at low temp
in evaporator and gets convicted from liquid to vapor. Thus
producing cooling effect. All refrigerants change phase
during operation.
Types of Refrigerants :-
1) R22- Hydro chlorofluorocarbon
2) R410- Hydro fluorocarbon
Advantages
●Solar air conditioning provides great package involving
benefits
●It does not use any Freon or hazardous chemicals
●It proves economical on long run
●Solar energy does not cause any pollution
●Sunlight is free, so it is economical
●Solar power can generate electricity no matter how remote
area as long as sun shines there
●Solar power is used to change batteries so that solar powered
devices can used in night.
Conclusion
● It reduce cost of the conditioning as compared to normal air
conditioner.

● It is eco friendly. It is efficient to cool in small area.

● Initial cost of installation is high but long run it proves eco

friendly.
