Basic Explanation

Provide basic explanation to the

students by showing the video so
that they have a general idea of
what the topic is about. Once
they get this basic explanation,
they should be able to
brainstorm examples.
Brainstorm examples
Draw a line down the middle of the
board to divide it into two halves,
select students to write down the
answers on the board.
For Countable
example: Noun Uncountable Noun
Contrast
Test the students!
For example:
• If water is uncountable what
happens if we talk about glasses
of water? Slices are countable
while bread is uncountable.
• Brainstorm other ways to make
uncountable nouns
countable: glasses of juice; cups
of teas; pieces of cake, etc…
Games and Activities with
Countable and Uncountable Nouns
The best way for students to
fully grasp the differences
between countable and
uncountable nouns is through
lots of practice, and there’s
no better way to practice than
through games.
