 The organizations created by social entrepreneurs may or

may not make a profit, but the bottom line for these
companies is always social betterment rather than
economic return.

Project Objectives

General Objectives:
To develop entrepreneurs and enhance
business and employment
opportunities though commercialization of
technologies and promote
public-private partnership for regional
economic development.
Specific Objectives:
1. To establish a system that will nurture entrepreneurship
ventures of AANR students and graduates, researchers,
growers, processors and entrepreneurs in Region VIII.

2. To enhance business and employment opportunities of

AANR graduates through commercialization of
agriculture and food technologies via AFTBI@VSU.

3. To accelerate commercialization of AANR technologies

developed by the university and other R&D Institutions
in the region
Background/Rationale

The idea of establishing a TBI that focuses on Agriculture and Food

Technologies at the Visayas State University (TBI@VSU) is brought about
by three important reasons:

1. Decline of enrollment in Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural

Resources (AANR)
2. Slow translation of agriculture and food technologies to
commercial products in the market
3. Fulfilling the role and adhering to the core values of VSU

AFTBI@VSU is designed to encourage and support the development

of technology-based businesses by AANR students and graduates,
growers, processors and entrepreneurs
