1.Write the objective and the date for every
piece of work and underline them. 2.By the side of your work write class work or homework. 3.Rule off after every piece of finished work. 4.Bring a pen and ruler every lesson. You must always write in blue or black pen. 5.Keep your book and your handwriting neat and take a pride in your work. 6.Always try your best with every piece of work. Maybe Jackie was right to warn her that he was a bit of a wolf… Extract Three Monday: granny started going dead weird on me. She’s got this terrible moustache. So embarrassing! What on earth will Sophie say if she calls round? And she keeps wanting me to snuggle up close to her… Extract Four “Oh,come on you lot, don’t be so jolly boring! I vote we take a short cut through the woods,” urged Peter. “Sammy would love a good run….” Extract Five Once, not twice, but once upon a time, in the land where the East meets West, and North meets South, which is nowhere, everywhere and here, there lived a foxy gentleman… Extract Six Werewolves are only found in kid’s tales. Ruth reminded herself of this fact, not for the first time, as she made her way down the dark alleyway. But she could still hear the soft patter of feet behind her, and in her mind last night’s dream lingered… Writing Task Choose one of the extracts and continue the story in the same style based on what has been discussed. (see hand out) How is reading important for writing? Best writers will be those who read lots of different types of books Steal ideas from books we have read as well as what we witness in life Reading as a writer can help What do you think this last point might mean? How can we read as a a writer? Homework Go to the library and choose a book to read alongside this topic. Read for 20minutes. Choose something that you have not read before, maybe in a type of genre you do not usually read. This will help you write an interesting story later in the term.
