Introduction
• Today rice is one of the most important & major food grain of the world.
• Nearly 1/2 to 2/3 of total world population has totally adopted rice as their main food.
• Among all agricultural crops, rice is the main crop cultivated in India, specially in Tamilnadu
• Due to the preprocessing and rice dehusking process ,the cost of the rice nowadays
inceresing day by day.
• And also excessive rise of fuel prices and limitation of power supply to the off grid areas is an
great issue for this sector.
• Since the solar irradiation is higher in India, solar energy may be an attractive choice in all the
agricultural applications
• Using PV system only for irrigation tends to poor utilization of energy produced by PV system.
Apart from irrigation, there are numerous Agricultural applications suitable for photovoltaic
(PV) solutions are available.
• Ozone gas emissions for both fuel burning and power generation results in global warming
and health issues due to inhalation of the smoke. Because of a good solar irradiation pattern,
a solar powered rice husking machine can minimize this burden from the nation. The purpose
of this paper is to design and analyse the performance of solar powered rice husking system.
Project Objective

 To fabricate Rice-Dehusking Machine powerd by Solar

 To analyse the quality of rice with the conventional systems
 The objective of this project is to develop and evaluate the
performance of solar photovoltaic stand-alone system for
rice dehusking for use on small-scale farms that are located
in remote rural locations.

Rice Dehusking Process
• Rice dehusking is a process of removing the husk and bran from the
paddy rice and producing head white rice grains that are sufficiently
milled, free from impurities and contains minimum number of
broken grains.
• First process is of Harvesting. It is a process of cutting and gathering
of ripened rice crops. The rice crops are generally cut with the help
of sickles and are then stacked at one place so as to allow them to
dry in the sun for some days.
• The next step is separating the grains from the stock (culm). This
process is called as Threshing.
• Threshing is done by beating the crop with the sticks so as to
separate the grains from their stock or the straw. In big fields, it is
done with the help of threshers. These grains are called as Paddy
rice.
Working Principle
 As solar panel observe the solar energy from sun and convert
into electrical energy. This electrical energy is stored in battery
which will further used for various applications.

 As battery is charged it utilized to dive the high torque dc motor.

 Switch on The button DC motor starts rotating, with the help of

which it also drive the Belt and pulley mechanism.

 This pulley is attached to long shaft through which whole

thresher mechanism is attached.

 After continuous rotation of drum / thresher mechanism the

rice is separate out form rice crop, and collect into container.

Application

 For home uses.

 And also for small scale industries.

 Agricultural uses.
Checking of Voltage and current values
PV panel
Advantages

 Best alternative source of energy.

 Low maintenance cost.

 Human power is easy to use and there is no need of special

training.

 No air pollution takes place as there is no combustion of fuel.

 Human operated machines are self-dependent source of energy.

Scope for future work

 High HP dc motor can be used in future to get greater

output.

 Automatic feeding of the rice to the machine can be done

 Conveyer can be added to the setup.

Design of Solar PV System

• Design of the solar PVC system for rice dehusking

machine
• was undertaken to determine:
• 1. Energy requirement of the machine
• 2. Array sizing of the modules
• 3. Required numbers of batteries
• 4.DC motor requirement
