ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES
OF ABOLISHING PPSMI AND
REPLACE WITH MBMMBI
Is the abolition of PPSMI truly
justifiable?
 The graph shows a comparison of MBMMBI and PPSMI at
national primary school. While there is an increase of exposure
from 15% to 20% in the English language, the net effect of
replacing scientific English (in the form of science and
mathematics in English) with scientific Bahasa Malaysia has
reduced total immersion in English to merely half of what it was
before!
CHALENGGES
 No sufficient qualified ENGLISH teachers

 Negative impacts the eroding standard of English of our

graduates and many fail to secure jobs

 Private international school

 Teachers and student readiness level.

CONCLUSION
 With this decision the government offers a new
approach to the teaching of science, mathematics,
Malay and English.

 The Government believes that this new approach can

uphold and strengthen the Malay language English
language and enhance the ability of students to master
the science and technology that is crucial for the
country's future
