student in the field or in company to get detailed knowledge of
activity regarding the construction, management, execution of work
etc ….

2.Description of project
The Industrial Case Study is carried out at Bramhapuri. The
project was construction of Aqueduct the detail information about
the project is given below,

Description Of Materials And
Equipment
material used :
1.Cement : Cement is a binding material it has good cohesive and
adhesive properties. At site, 53 grade was used and the
weight of each cement bag was 50kg. Cement used at site
was ‘PCC’. Specification are used from IS269-1976.
2. Sand : Source of sand was Vainganga River Desaiganj
(Warsa).
3. Water : The source of water was bore well constructed on
site
4. Shuttering : The Shuttering used is steel Shuttering.

It was well durable. It was easy to handle and
removal.
Equipment's used
1. Needle Vibrater: This is used for compaction of
concrete after casting of concrete.

2. Mobile concrete Placer : This is used for placing


concrete to the site of casting from mobile concrete
mixer.

3.Mobile concrete Mixer : This is used for


transportation of concrete from Batch Mixer to the site
of casting .

4. Roller: This is used for compaction of soil beside the

abutment .
4. Work experience
Day 1
Visited to office and submitted permission letter from
college to the department. Permission taken to do industrial case
study under the guidance of departmental engineer
Day 2
Visited to the site.The day was of payment day the work
was closed for the day .
Day 3
Visited to site At Awalgaon construction of aqueduct brief
information taken on site from Mr.Rakesh Khond (Technical
assistant to department )
Temporary bench mark = 207.541 m 10
Day 4
Met with Mr. Arun Sinha sir (Project Manager) Structure
Information given by sir, organizational chart and company information
given by sir.
Day 5
I was join the site when the foundation of the structure were
completed. Site information were taken from site engineer. Raft foundation
were provided and M25 grade of concrete were casted . There are 9 piers, 2
abutment and 2 wing wall provided.
Day 6
Drawing were studied on the site

Test on aggregate were observed and studied.

Filling of earthwork were going on site beside downstream
side wing wall by roller n power excavator .Due to rain no concreting
were done . 12

Murom filling : sand replacement

The work was closed due to payment day .

Concrete mix grade and ratio of mix were observed of batch mixer

Capacity of mixer : 0.5 cubic meter at one time

Grade of concrete : M15

Aggregate grade : 40 MSA size of aggregate: 40 mm : 302 kg


20 mm : 227 kg
10 mm : 227 kg

Cement : sand : aggregate ratio : 142 kg : 306 kg: 756 kg

Water : 86 liter

Admixture : Apple chemic 1.036 liter

within this 2 days casting of concrete in pier of 1 meter lift and
cubes were taken, Gunny bag curing were provided to the pier and
quality control engineer had visited to the site to check the structure
and in-situ test results

Day 17
The concreting of abutment was observed needle vibrator
were used for the compaction of concrete the concrete were
transported by the transit mixer and directly placed into the formwork

Day 18
Due to the rainy season the work were closing the excavation
of stream were started for flow of water which was filled for work .
Pipes were provided for air release from sand filling in sub-structure
.

5. Observations and discussions
1. I found on site that the some extra adjustment has to be done
to carry out work which is not found in the books, which
come from experience only.

2. This case study provides an idea about the management of


work

3. How to execute the work as per drawings

4. As a site engineer one should know the technical as well as


labours language also .
