Introduction
• What is FRP?
• FRP stands for Fibre Reinforced Polymer.
• It is a composite material made of a polymer matrix reinforced with
fibres.
• The Fibres are usually glass , carbon , aramid or basalt. Rarely wood ,
paper, and asbestos have been used
• Chemical and corrosion resistance
• Excellent temperature-resistant
• Stiffness.
• Flexibility.
• Ability to carry loads
What is Pvc?
• Stands for Polyvinylchloride
• Compatibility with additives
• Durability
• Fire resistance
• Electrical insulation
• Oil and chemical resistance
Literature Review
• From 3 decades FRP composite have been widely used for the
confinement of existing concrete columns.
• Research has been conducted to investigate the confinement
mechanics and the stress strain characteristics.
• Significantly Enhance the strength and deformation capacities of
circular concrete column but less effective for square column
