Types of crimes:
Actions related to crime:
1. Attempt ( a crime) = try to do a crime, a
crime which is not completed.

Example: She attempted to kill Rose but fortunately the police


tracked her at the right time.

Macedonian equivalent: Обид за убиство; Обид за


извршување на кривично дело;
2. To commit (a crime) = to actually do the
crime; the crime is completed

Example: The investigations weren’t so necessary because


at the end he admitted that he had committed the crime.

Macedonian equivalent: Извршува кривично дело;


Извршува убиство/самоубиство/кражба;
3. To get arrested for (a crime) = get caught
by the police and taken to jail.

Example: Two weeks was hardly enough for the media to


forget the arrest of the popular singer for selling drugs.

Macedonian equivalent: Апси/Лиши од слобода/ Затвора


некого за извршување на кривично дело
4. To be accused of (a crime) = To have
someone say that you did it.

Example: John was accused of causing the accident even


though he was not guilty at all.

Macedonian equivalent: Обвинет за извржување на некое


кривично дело (кражба; убиство; проневера)
5. To be charged with (a crime) = To be
officially accused through the legal process.

Example: A man charged with robbery escaped prison


yesterday.

Macedonian equivalent: Обвинет за некое кривично дело;


6. To be suspected of (a crime) = Have
people think that you did it.

Example: We suspected him of robbing the bank.

Macedonian equivalent: Осомничен за извршување на некое


кривично дело;
7. To be acquitted of (a crime) = Have a
judge or jury decide that you're not guilty.

Example: John was relieved when the judge acquitted him of


attempting a murder.

Macedonian equivalent: Ослободен од;


8. To be convicted of (a crime) = Have a
judge or jury decide that you're guilty.

Example: He was convicted of a felony and was sentenced to


ten years behind bars.

Macedonian equivalent: Осуден за извршување на некое


кривично дело;
9. To serve time for (a crime)= To go to
prison because you did it.

Example: He served an 18 month sentence for theft.

Macedonian equivalent: Лежи во затвор; Одлежува затворска


казна;
10. To witness (a crime) = To see what
exactly happened.

Example: I feel so bad for her! She is only twelve years old and
she had to witness the murder-suicide of her mother.

Macedonian equivalent: Да бидеш сведок/очевидец при


изврушување на некое кривично дело;
11. To be a victim of (a crime) = To have a
crime done to you.

Example: Marry claims to have been a victim of a child abuse.

Macedonian equivalent: Жртва на;


12. To be remanded in custody ( after
committing a crime) = To be detained in
prison until a later date when a trial or
sentencing hearing will take place.

Example: She has been remanded in custody until she appears


in court next month.

Macedonian equivalent: Задржан во притвор/истражен


затвор;
13. To lodge an appeal (after being
convicted of a crime) = To make a
formal/official compliment to the Court

Example: They were ready to lodge an appeal against the


court’s decision because they had a strong evidence that will
proving that he is not guilty.

Macedonian equivalent: Апелира до судот; Поднесува


приговор;
