Background of the study
• ICT Issue in the School (PICAB ES)
• DCP Packages not fully used
• Lack of ICT skills and Equipment
• Lack of Proper ICT Integration in learning activities.

• Department of Education Support thru DCP


• DepEd recognized the power of ICT and the use of ICT
inside the classroom in every school is inevitable.
• PICAB ES received 4 DCP since 2014
Background of the study
• ICT: Trouble or Solution?
• Teacher needs to attend themselves in using EMAIL, LIS, EHRIS, SPEWS
and other DepEd personnel related website.
• 6 out of 17 public elementary schools in Infanta Quezon planned to use
ICT to improved schools
• Teachers blaming ICT (especially computers, smartphone, tablet pc and
others) for low performance of learners.)
• No recorded evidences of schools best practices related to ICT, thus
possibility of low perception of effective ICT usage.
• Low up taking of training on ICT or Follow up activities after training
like monitoring
• Unnecessary and Duplication of training
Background of the Study
• So why bother using the ICT? (ICT in Filipino’s Present and Future
lives)
• Filipinos spend 3.4 hours everyday in social media because we love creating
presence online and connect to people (Garcia 2015)
• 39.7 percent of Filipinos are able to use the Internet (2015 UN State of
Broadband)
• 10 percent of global market in IT-BPO came from Philippines.
• The economy requires ICT for efficiency.
• At the bottom line…
• Filipino are already using ICT and the role of ICT in the in different industries enormous
• ICT needs to use properly, thus needs right education where teachers are the frontiers.
• The demand for the teachers to be excellent in using ICT is Excellent
Statement of the Problem.
• Some Introduction..
• Teachers need regular ICT training because there are always
new technologies (N. Ricafort, 2010) and they need to learn
ahead there pupils.
• ICT envolves from simple audio visual to modular learning
tools (W. Inte 2013)
• Problems not only in lack of proper training in ICT there is
also cost and the negative attitude of teachers towards ICT
• Needs holistic approach in ICT Training
The Statement of the Problem
This study sought to assess the ICT Competency level of Public School
teachers at PICAB Elementary School located in Brgy. Catambungan,
Infanta Quezon for the school year 2018-2019.

• What are the ICT Competency levels of the school teachers at
PICAB Elementary School?
• What are the implication of the levels of the use of ICT in
teaching and the subject taught?

• ICT Level of Competency of teachers is correlated to learners
performance.

• Adoption of the National ICT Competency Standards in various ICT job

Implementation Of The Philippine Professional Standards For Teachers

• Are Teachers well equipped with ICT skills?
• Teachers rated in Basic to Proficient in General (Several Studies)
• Factors of ICT Integration are Age, Resources, Training, Software,
Motivation, Time and Confidence (Briones, 2017)
• Teachers needs to undergo Computer Trainings…(Caluza L., et al 2017)
• The teacher can only be competent in using ICT in education if the
teacher knows when (and where) to use the technology for
teaching…(Caluza L., et al 2017)
• Once the teachers built confidence on using the ICT their teaching
practices, they will further use ICT in the future (ox M., et al, 1999)
• Teacher should have confidence over ICT. (Syed Noor-Ul-amin, 2008).

• Getting the school and it's teaching force equipped
• 8 Billion Peso for DepEd Computerization program for 2015
• DepEd Utilizing Social Media for Information Dissemination
and Communication (DepEd, ICT in Education, Philippine
Setting)
• Collaboration between agencies is recommended to
overcome external ICT Integration hindrances
• Training should be based on ICT Standards (Amrcia and Rama
Pl, 2015).

• Importance of Setting the Standards
• Setting ICT Standards in the K-12 Curriculum of the Philippines is
crucial (Bonifacio A, 2013).
• Prevent Duplication of Training (Mel Tan of UNESCO Bangkok last
December 2015)
• Technology is dominated by two types of people: those who
understand what they do not manage, and those who manage what
they do not understand. (Putt’s Law)
• ICT proficiency of the teachers are relative to resources readily
available (Bonifacio A, 2013)
• NICS teachers as Standard, because it is collaboratively made by
educators for educators, It is recommended by Commission on ICT of
the Philippines.
