STUDENT NAME: MARÍA ISABEL
RICABAL TEACHER: LORETO RAMÍREZ CLASS: IV°B ELECTIVE CLASS Introduction In this assessment I am going to be talking about my job, my past experiences in it, the places where I can work being an ecoturism engineer, the pros and cons about my job, how I am as an ecoturism engineer, I am going to show some pictures of my job and finally I will give a conclusion giving my own opinion about this area. Expeditions and ecoturism engineering: Past experiences I work on a turist company as a guide, my work consists on organizing and guiding expeditions across the chilean Patagonia. Before I worked on the company, I had worked in my brother in law’s company as an administrator, because to find job on this area it’s very difficult. Also, Before I achieved one year working in there, I had won less than $1.000.000, but now I win about $500.000 by each expedition I organize. I develope myself on the geoturist area, but before I did this, I had been very influenced by my family on the engineer area, and that’s why I used to work with my brother in law. In what places can I work? My first expedition organized by myself
As I mentioned before, I used to work part-
time as an administrator on my brother in law’s company, but before that I had a couple of expeditions organized by my own. I used to organize myself the entire trip and call my own contacts, like the Company administrator friends of my friends, their families, et One of my expeditions working on the company cetera, and the prize wasn’t very high. When I started working on the tourism company my salary increased and now I am happy with the amount of money I win. Fortunately, I had never been sacked of my work place, I had developed very well on each one of them. Pros about my job I love my job, there are many things about it wich I like the most. One of them is that it’s a very motivating job, I am in constant moving and working with people and that motivates me a lot. Another thing that I love about my job is that it is very stimulating for me, because being on the nature stimulates me a lot and it helps me to canalize all my emotions. Also, my work is very rewarding, because I always feel that all the efford that I put on it, it is rewarded to me. Cons about my job Although I love my job, there are certain things that I don’t like too much… My job is a little hazardous, I have to do some dangerous activities when I’m at work, and that could hurt me someday. Another think that I dislike about my job is that it’s very demanding, it consumes almost all of my time, and that means that it could be difficult for me to have a family someday. Also, my job is stressful, I have to be constantly traveling and organizing new travels, and that makes me gets on my nerves sometimes. How am I as an ecoturism engineer? I think that one of the most important thing about working in any kind of job is to be self- confident about what you are doing, and I feel like that. I love feeling that my clients and the people who I travel with are pleased with the way I do my job, that’s why I am self- confident. Also, I think I am a little workaholic, I am addicted to my job, even though there are things that I don’t like too much about it, still I love my job and it makes me very happy to work doing what I like the most: travelling. I am addicted to my job because it’s fullfiling doing it. Conclusion It was fun to me to do this assessment because, as I said before, I really love my job, and sharing some things about it is very interesting for me. I enjoyed doing this because my career it’s not very common and it difficult to me to find people who worked on the area, so if I can share my story, I am happy to do it.
