INTRODUCTION
• Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a complex clinical
syndrome characterized by alterations in the
normal vaginal flora and a malodorous discharge
when symptomatic.

Criteria of Pregenancy Outcome
The Nugent criteria used in this study have been shown to have a
higher sensitivity and spe- cificity compared with the Amsel
criteria
Other studies :
BV to be associated with spontaneous second
trimester miscarriage, but they studied the women in
their first trimesters and had larger sample sizes
In order to exclude spontaneous pregnancy loss due to other causes in the first
trimester in our own study, the women were recruited after 14 weeks gestation.
No significant difference in neonatal admissions.
